For Righteousness' Sake

The last sustained note
Drifted away
The last harmonic throat
Sang the anthem

The tired sinews
Watched it come
As the deep dark hues
Pressed towards them

Knees slapped the dark mire
No defense
Provoked an ire

Bones burst in loud display
Malevolence
And Death on the Lord’s Day

Many yearning hearts
Cried to their God
Through these bloody arts
They held on

Holding onto the serene
“But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. AND DO NOT FEAR THEIR INTIMIDATION, AND DO NOT BE TROUBLED,”
-1 Peter 3:14

The Surge

I do not understand
How it surges through my hand
Spider-like it crawls my arm
Yet safe, brings me no harm

Like Basking in the light of day
The notes come alive as I play
It’s bigger that this, than me
It’s a song composed to He

It burns like a thousand fires
This passion loud, a hundred choirs
My fingers touch the ivory notes
Love declared by a world of throats

This joy I will never hide
This song will always be cried
“To the great I AM, the King
Forever will our praises ring”
